Ezekiel's Awesome Vision (Ezekiel 1:4-14)

As I looked, I saw a great storm coming toward me from the north, driving before it a huge cloud that flashed with lightning and shone with brilliant light.  The fire inside the cloud glowed like gleaming amber.  From the center of the cloud came four living beings that looked human, except that each had four faces and two pairs of wings.  Their legs were straight like human legs, but their feet were split like calves' feet and shone like burnished bronze.  Beneath each of their wings I could see human  hands.  The wings of each living being touched the wings of the two beings beside it.  The living beings were able to fly in any direction without turning around.  Each had a human face in the front, the face of a lion on the right side, the face of an ox on the left side, and the face of an eagle at the back.  Each had two pairs of outstretched wings---one pair stretched out to touch the wings of the living beings on either side of it, and the other pair covered its body.  They went in whatever direction the spirit chose, and they moved straight forward in all directions without having to turn around.
The living beings looked like bright coals of fire or brilliant torched, and it looked as though lightning was flashing back and forth among them.
And the living beings darted to and fro like flashes of lightning.  (Ezekiel 1:4-14)

An amazing vision of Ezekiel, the man whose name means 'Strength of God'.  This book starts with this awesome vision full of meaning and flashes only belonging to the Glory of God.  Why are we afraid of the Glory of God?  It is who God is.  It dispels sin and clears the air.  It has a definite purpose of uniformity and conformity to His Will and yet you can take or leave it, but not without consequences.  Here the four faces are conform to His will as they represent beings of power namely man, lion, ox and eagle.  Each have a power proper to their being.  They are also believed to be the four characteristics of Christ's ministry as:
  1) The son of man (The ultimate sacrifice for mankind
  2) The lion of Judah (King of kings)
  3) The servant (ox) beast of burden (maybe intercessor)
  4) The wisdom of God (eagle) as far sighted.

All these faces correspond to the Four Gospels, Matthew, Mark, Luke and John

All the Gospels are the precursors to the Church, the launching pad for it as they teach the disciples how to minister.  The possibility for the righteous to live by faith. The Gospels are very important to Church history.  They show us how to be Jesus here on earth and who Jesus is to the world, the healer, the resurrection to the saints, the way maker to the lost, the savior of our souls.  Yes, the Gospels give us purpose.  Truth in a lying world, way of destiny and life to a dying world.  You need the Gospels and you need Jesus Christ to be your Savior from sin to eternal life and maybe your only true and best friend.

Have a great day!
