Fruit of the Spirit: Kindness

The Fruit of the Spirit   A while ago you may recall the we talked about the fruit of the Spirit: Love, Joy, peace etc... I just decided that a few others were missing and now I am adding them in continuing with kindness. “But the fruit of the Spirit [the result of His presence within us] is love [unselfish concern for others],  joy [inner] peace , patience [not the ability to wait, but how we act while waiting],   kindness, goodness,  faithfulness,  gentleness,  self-control.   Against such things there is no law.” (Galatians 5:22-23)(Amplified) Kindness is a Seed Do not misunderstand me I know that it is a fruit but like any fruit kindness has a seed enclosed in it.   When you sow the seed in people’s lives you will reap the benefits of it.   Maybe a harvest of kindness in return.   Kindness softens the ground in which it is planted.   We ought not to be kind with others who are kind only to us but kind to the angry.   The Holy Spirit will enable to do tha

What Would Jesus Do?

As he was speaking, the teachers of religious law and Pharisees brought a woman they had caught in the the act of adultery.  They put her in front of the crowd.                                                 "Teacher," they said to Jesus, 'this woman was caught in the very act of adultery.  The law of Moses says to stone her.  What do you say?'                                                                                      They were trying to trap him into saying something they could use against him, but Jesus stooped down and wrote in the dust with his finger.'                                                                                  They kept demanding and answer, so he stood up again and said, "All right, stone her.  But let those who have never sinned throw the first stones!"                                                                       Then he stooped down again and wrote in the dust.                   When the accusers heard t

God Speaks (Isaiah 46:4)

I will be your God throughout your lifetime---until your hair is white with age.  I made you, and I will care for you.  I will carry you along and save you. I marked my Bible that day! It was on the eve of my 53rd Birthday.  On November 19, 2009. When God speaks words like that I like to record them.  To me, they are life and they are important.  They will give me hope through hard times.  God's promises always offer us rest for our soul.  Because we forget we have to record it. As some of you know, I have struggled through with my mental illness.  I believe because 'life' was spoken through in my spirit, this word carried me through the challenges I have been through.  Even without me making a conscious effort to remember that specific word.  I believe that every promise that God speaks to us personally through our time with him is a seed that is planted in our heart that day and from it flourishes life, hope and rest. If that promise had been just a word on paper, it wou

Words for Today (Ephesians 4:25-26

So put away all falsehood and" tell your neighbor the truth" because we belong to each other.  And "don't sin by letting anger gain control over you". Don't let the sun go down  while you are still angry, for anger gives a mighty foothold to the Devil. I used to be very angry and now I have mellowed out quite a bit, just ask my wife and children.  It is also called not having a filter, you know? The kind that filters your words.  Keeping your mouth shut at the right time can keep you out of trouble and not say the stupid thing you really want to say at that time is also a good idea. Anger is very destructive and like a tornado it leaves a path behind it of unhappy customers, friends and family.  It also brings a lot of loneliness.  Who really wants to be around someone who is angry all the time. So that's what the words, "don't sin by letting anger gain control over you" mean, keep cool.  You can be angry but also think of your actions afte
