I totally agree that we are in the dispensation of Grace, but I also know that God has a time to hold people to account.  A time to let them know that their good time is over.  I believe that Zephaniah is very relevant to us today.  It is just that we should have read it earlier. In Zephaniah 1:4-6, God deals always in love with what it looks like the backsliders, those that have a divided heart toward him. "I will put an end to all the idolatrous priests, so that even the memory of them will disappear.  For they go up to their roofs and bow to the sun, moon and stars .  They claim to follow the Lord, but then they worship Molech, too.   So now I will destroy them!  And I will destroy those who used to worship me but now no longer do.  They no longer ask for the Lord's guidance or seek my blessings. Then there is the word in Zephaniah 1:12 "I will search with lanterns in Jerusalem's darkest corners to find and punish those who sit contented in their sins, indifferent

  I pour out my complaints before him and tell him all my troubles.  For I am overwhelmed, and you alone know the way I should turn... Are you overwhelmed? Stressed? Finances maybe?  Have no fear God tells me, even though things may seem out of sync and has the effect of a tornado sweeping through your life.  God is near!  He is still in control when all seems to turn away from you.  He is faithful through the ages.  He was faithful to Abraham when he promised to him the nations that would be born out of him.  He will also be faithful to you.  He doesn't go back on his word.  He is not like most politicians you might know.  His word stays true and will be accomplished. When I am overwhelmed like sometimes you are, I feel trapped and cornered.  The only direction to look is upward where our help come from.  We, then like the psalmist need to ask God for direction.  Ironic is it not? Since humanly, you have nowhere to go.  But God is supernatural and he can take you out of that corne

 First, I want to remind  you that in the last days there will be scoffers who will laugh at the truth and do every evil thing they desire.  This will be their argument: "Jesus promised to come back, did he? Then where is he?  Why, as far back as anyone can remember, everything has remained exactly the same since the world was first created." (2 Peter 3:2-4) Although no one knows the hour of Jesus Christ's coming, we sure can now see the signs here on earth.  We go by the signs! Peter, here announced that in the last days scoffers and mockers will be present and today we sure see and hear an abundance of them.  So the evidence of the last days are obvious.  The Bible even quotes what the mockers will say, I paraphrase: "Things have been the same for a long time, when will he ever come?"  But be sure he will come and he will come when there is the least expectation of his coming here on earth.  God just wants to put those mockers out of the way so that his true f

 Always be full of joy in the Lord.  I say it again---rejoice!  Let everyone see that you are considerate in all you do.  Remember, the Lord is coming soon.  Don't worry about anything; instead, pray about everything.  Tell God what you need, and thank him for what he has done.  If you do this, you will experience God's peace, which is far more wonderful than the human mind can understand.  His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus. These are very simple and basic verses to follow and yet we fail so miserably at experiencing peace.  Why?  I would venture to suggest that it is probably because we focus on peace.  This old world likes to focus on the rewards rather than the process even to the point of disregarding the process altogether.  We have everything revolving around peace.  Yet the true peace from above comes through prayer. First of all though in this passage we are encourage to think of others through our joy and consideration in all we do.

 I love the Bible, I love the Lord.  One of my most favorite book is the book of Psalms.  The Lord is actually teaching me how to study his Word more responsibly.  By meditating on it for a while I can picture the scene of the psalm I am reading.  The psalm I meditated on is psalm 76. What a psalm! The first couple verses talk about places where the Lord is 'well known', where he is 'great' and where 'he lives' and 'has his home'.  His very Presence!  That's how you go to war and face your enemies with his Presence and conquer them.  That's where your enemies fear for their lives The enemy can't stand in the Lord's Presence or before it. "No wonder you are greatly feared! Who can stand before you when your anger explodes? From heaven you sentenced your enemies; the earth trembled and stood silent before you."            (Psalm 76:7-8) And look at verse 10 which is a real slap in the enemy's face: "Human opposition only
