Getting Rich Quick (Proverbs 28:20-22) (Proverbs 28:25)

The trustworthy will get a rich reward.  But the person who wants to get rich quick will only get into trouble. Showing partiality is never good, yet some will do wrong for something as small as a piece of bread. A greedy person tries to get rich quick , but it only leads to poverty. Greed causes fighting, trusting the Lord leads to prosperity. Greed is like cancer.  It eats you from the inside out.  I must admit that I have wanted to get rich-quick like anyone else wants to but...it brings poverty.   There is definitely a lot of money going around with get rich quick schemes like MLM and lotteries of all kind. When and if you get rich from these, there is almost a curse that comes with them.  I can tell, I will become popular for saying this! The world seems to revolve around with greed.  There is so much of it going around.  Money machines all over. Many, many poor people as a cause of greed.  It fulfills these verses precisely. People in general are drawn to greed and we all wond

Complete the Deal! (Luke 14:25-31) (Luke 14:34-35)

Great crowds were following Jesus.  He turned around and said to them, if you want to be my follower you must love me more than you own father and mother. wife and children, brothers and sisters---yes, more than your own life.  Otherwise, you cannot be my disciple.  And you cannot be my disciple if you do not carry your own cross and follow me. But don't begin until you count the cost.  For who would begin construction of a building without first getting estimates and then checking to see if there is enough money  to pay the bills?  Otherwise, you might complete only the foundation before running out of funds. And then how everyone would laugh at you.  They would say, 'There's the person who started that building and ran out of money before it was finished!' Salt is good for seasoning.  But if it loses its flavor, how do you make it salty again?  Flavorless salt is good neither for the soil nor for fertilizer.  It is thrown away.  Anyone who is willing to hear should li

Remember Lot's wife! (Luke 17:26-33)

When the Son of Man returns, the world will be like the people were in Noah's day.  In those days before the flood, the people enjoyed banquets and parties and weddings right up to the time Noah entered his boat and the flood came to destroy them all. And the world will be as it was in the days of Lot.  People went about their daily business---eating and drinking, buying and selling, farming and building---until the morning Lot left Sodom.  Then fire and burning sulfur rained down from heaven and destroyed them all.  Yes, it will be business as usual right up to the hour when the Son of Man returns.  On that day a person outside the house must not go into the house to pack.  A person in the field must not return to town.  Remember what happened to Lot's wife!  Whoever clings to this life will lose it, and whoever loses this life will save it. Have you noticed in your country or town a renewed confidence in the economy?  Or are they still protecting themselves tirelessly from th

Come, let us reason! (Isaiah 1:18) (John 3:16) (Proverbs 29:18)

Come now, let us reason together, says the Lord: though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they shall become like wool.  (ESV) If God had to sit down for a meeting with humanity he probable would have a long talk with it about all that is going down in this chaotic world.  It seems things are getting out of hands and men and women just can't talk without each other without pointing a gun in the direction of another person.  Every time I hear on the News about someone shooting another person  for any reason it does something to my heart.  Have lives become that cheap to some people? In this article down below, it explains the reasoning behind 'all lives matter' could be offensive to the 'black lives matter' community. https://cutacut.com/2020/06/04/heres-why-all-lives-matter-is-a-misguided-and-offensive-phrase/#:~:text=Often%2C%20you’ll%20see%20the%20phrase%20All%20Live%20Matter,orientation%20etc%2C%20the%20p

Being Single-minded in Purpose (Matthew 21;13) (Isaiah 56:7-8) Jeremiah 7:11) (Romans 6:1)

This is more like a study to do on your own if you like.  Here I just give you pointers and I know you will be blessed if you do it with me.  We start with Jesus in the Temple, clearing it from all its commerce. He said, " The Scriptures declare, 'My Temple will be called  a place (house) of prayer,' but you have turned it into a den of thieves!" Now in Isaiah 56, we see that 'house of prayer' is mentioned twice.  In fact chapter 56:1-8 should be carefully studied for in verse 1, it says: "Be just and fair, " says the Lord, "Do what is right and good, for I am coming soon to rescue you. In verse 7-8 it says: I will bring them also  to my holy mountain of Jerusalem and I will fill them with joy in my house of prayer.  I will accept their burn offerings and sacrifices, because my Temple will be called a house of prayer for all nations.  For the Sovereign Lord, who brings back the outcasts of Israel, says: I will bring others too, besides my peopl

Looking up! (Psalm 121)

A song from the ascent to Jerusalem I look up to the mountain---does my help comes from there? My help comes from the Lord, who made the heavens and the earth! He will not let you stumble and fall; the one who watches over you will not sleep. Indeed, he who watches over Israel never tires and never sleeps. The Lord himself watches over you!  The Lord stands beside you as your protective shade. The sun will not hut you by day, nor the moon at night. The Lord keeps you from all evil and preserves your life. The Lord keeps watch over you as you come and go, both now and forever. Looking up is safer whether or not the world says that looking here is the thing to do.  Our ultimate safety is up in the direction of the mountain.  Actually the Lord is the one who made the earth and the mountains and the heavens.  That is where my help comes from and not some material found in the mountains like diamonds and precious stones. If you want real help it's to the Lord that you should go because
