Beautiful Christmas (Isaiah 59:9)

 Well, the baby, we were waiting for has arrived.  We are proud Grandparents now and we are looking forward to the growing years of this new child.  This was pretty well the highlight of this Christmas season.  We have of course enjoyed the deeper meaning of this time.

I have kept reading my French Bible, In Isaiah 59:9 I read in French about the reason God does not give us always what he has promised to us right away.  We seek for one thing, and he gives the opposite.

The same verse in the Common English Bible is:

Because of all this, justice is far from us,

And righteousness beyond our reach.

We expect light, and there is darkness;

We await a gleam of light, but walk about in gloom.

Have you ever been in a situation where you expect certain result and get the opposite of what you want.  Frustrating right?  There is some supernatural force or person that must be trying to show us something.  Life should be a lot simpler than this.

In the context of this chapter 59 (verse 4), it explains that the people were dealing corruptly in court and doing similar things .  We cannot keep doing wrong and expect right result.  We cannot cheat on our taxes and expect God to shut his eyes to it.  Whatever we give wrong or right we will get back in equal portions.  God does not want to be mocked whatever a man or woman sow he will reap. (Galatians 6:7)

We cannot expect God to shower us with blessings if we don’t shower people with love.

We must all make up our mind about what we want.  If we want righteousness, we must show it.  But if we want ‘wrong’ let us be prepared for the consequences.

This advice might save you a lot of trouble in the coming year 2024.  Have a great one!

Doing the right thing might also mean in this case, to surrender our lives to God.
