A History Changing Day (Luke 2:13-20)
Suddenly the angel was joined by a vast host of others---the armies of heaven---praising God:
"Glory to God in the highest heaven,
and peace on earth to all whom God favors."
When the angels had returned to heaven, the shepherds said to each others, "Come on, let's go to Bethlehem! Let's see this wonderful thing that has happened, which the Lord told us about."
They ran to the village and found Mary and Joseph. And there was the baby, Lying in the manger. Then the shepherds told everyone what had happened and what the angel had sail to them about this child. All who heard the shepherds' story were astonished, but Mary quietly treasured these things in her heart and thought about them often. The shepherds went back to their fields and flocks, glorifying and praising God for what the angels had told them, and because the had seen the child, just as the angel had said.
Amazing true story that changed the course of history and changed hearts forever. What impact those angels had on those shepherds! They were never to be the same! God had purposefully used the lowly shepherd in society to tell the story, an unclean class to the Egyptians. Just imagine if had chosen someone as arrogant as king Herod. The story would have probably been swept under the carpet and wouldn't have left his front porch. He would have probably thought, "The birth of Jesus? It means he will be greater than me, O that could never happen. I am not going to let that happen!" Guess what this is what happened too. He wanted him killed. Is it not what has happened throughout history? Skeptics and atheists and religious people have just tried to make that birth ineffective. Well, after over two thousand years, people are still celebrating this day and being converted because of who it represent. Not the great Mary, although she really considered herself a servant, but the great Jesus who deserves better than mockery and snickering of the skeptics and unbelievers. He deserves praise and visitation from the angels. He deserves to be spoken of throughout the world as the savior and the Lord of all mankind without exception. He is more than an opinion or a vote.
He is the King of kings and Lord of lords! (Revelations 17:14) If this birth had been ordinary, can you please explain why it changes lives today and the miracles that still happen?
Look! The birth of Jesus had to be from a virgin because the seed is passed from the man and if you take man out of the picture you get a perfect baby. Look at this verse in Romans 5:12 "When Adam sinned, sin entered the entire human race. Adam's sin brought death, so death spread to everyone, for everyone sinned."
So there is no more escaping, no more excuse and no more sweeping under the carpet. Sin can't be avoided because we all have a father. Jesus's father was the Holy Spirit but his legal father was Joseph.
The Holy Spirit is nothing more than the Spirit of Jesus and of God the Father. It's that simple and does not require an intelligent person to accept that notion, but faith which is believing in the unseen God who can do whatever he wants without human's opinions or intervention.
May the peace of God dwell in you. This is the true sign of God's favor! (Luke 2:14)
Have a great day today! It's windy and sunny here in Western Canada.
