Receive the Living Water (John 4:3-10)

So he left Judea to return to Galilee.
He had to go through Samaria on the way.  Eventually he came to the Samaritan village of Sychar, near the parcel of ground that Jacob gave to his son Joseph.  Jacob's well was there; and Jesus, tired from the long walk, sat wearily beside the well about noontime.  Soon a Samaritan woman came to draw water, and Jesus said to her, "Please give me a drink."  He was alone at the time because his disciples  had gone into the village to buy some food.
The woman was surprised for Jews refuse to have anything to do with Samaritans.  She said to Jesus, "You are a Jew, and I am a Samaritan woman.  Why are you asking me for a drink?"
Jesus replied, "If you only knew the gift God has for you and who I am, you would ask me, and I would give you living water."

Today in our world people are obviously angry, defeated maybe by all that is happening and I don't blame them.  There is a lot to be angry about.  We just have to keep our anger under control. More killing doesn't make anything right.

Even Jesus had enemies.  To say he didn't would be a lie and yet he still could love everyone of them perfectly.  Take his numerous meetings with the Pharisees or Sadducees, for example, the religious leaders of that day.  He had many enemies and he was perfect.

But now, Jesus had to go from Judea back to Galilee.  So he took the shortest route through Samaria.  The problem for any Jew like Jesus would be that Samaritans were somewhat enemies with the Jews.  So he could have avoided the trip by taking the longer road through the Decapolis but that would have involved crossing the Jordan which would not have been a big deal for Jesus.

So he decided to love his enemies and met this lowly woman at a well.  He ended up having a great time telling her that the water she was drawing from the well would keep her thirsty, but that the water he would give her would satisfy her unto eternal life.  You can actually read for yourself the whole story in this chapter 4 of John. He also knew she was living with a man that was not her husband and she had had five men altogether.  He knew all that and still chose to love her.  He loves you too whoever you are.  Whatever your past.  He just want you to have living water and live a long (eternal) happy (in heaven happy) life.  He wants to forgive all that and put it behind.
Listen to what he said in John 10;10 "The thief's (That's Satan) purpose is to steal and kill and destroy.  My purpose is to give life in all it's fullness. (or more abundantly).
Is it not great?
This is the reason Satan exist, he is a fallen angel who steals and kills and destroys.  Jesus is like his Father, he gives (John 3:16)
A lot of you have been drinking from a well that will make you thirsty again and again.  Try living water that gives you a satisfying Hope and Peace that will never run dry.
