Completely Closing the Armour
As our son and family came for a visit, we also him and I got busy on nailing netting over the fence to keep the deer population out of our yard. We thought that we had done a good job with it but to no avail. One deer had still made it over the fence. We have no idea how it made it over. Deer are well protected here in Canada.
Is your
armour sealed?
I right away
thought about my spiritual armour. Is it
completely sealed away from the attacks of the enemy or the world? What about lust, anger and lack of love do
those murmur in my spirit or my mind? Is
Satan whispering in my ears? What are my
beliefs about self or Christ? Do they
match what the bible teaches?
You must
start with your relationships. Are they
kept pure? Are you protected from any worldliness? Satan wants to move slowly and steadily in
our lives so that we are completely unaware of his attacks. He is not called a “serpent” for no reason he
has plenty of tricks in his bag. Even
things as innocent as lotteries and horoscopes might look harmless but don’t be
fooled, they will entrap you over time.
One way that I find out how harmful something might be is if I want to
be in the darkness or in the Light when I do it. If I want to do it in the dark, then it is
not healthy for me but if I do it in the Light of his Presence then I am obedient.
Another way to test is if it robs me of
my trust in Jesus. For instance, with
lottery: why do I still do it if I trust my Father to provide? Lottery is based on luck and cannot be from
God as I also see its destructive fruit in people’s lives.
In
conclusion:
Leaving
cracks in our armours will make us very vulnerable to the sword of the
enemy. We must protect ourselves with
the Word of God and prayer and the Blood of Jesus.
Certainly,
do not lend an ear to the devil as he roams around like a roaring lion.
Be self
controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion
looking for someone to devour. Resist
him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that your brothers throughout
the world are undergoing the same kind of sufferings.
