Get to know Jesus through the Storms

Then Jesus got into the boat and started across the lake with his disciples.  Suddenly, a fierce storm struck the lake, with waves breaking into the boat.  But Jesus was sleeping.  The disciples went and woke him up, shouting, “Lord, save us! We are going to drown!”

Jesus responded, “Why are you afraid? You have so little faith!”

Then he got us and rebuked the wind and waves, and suddenly there was a great calm.

The disciples were amazed. “Who is this man?” they asked.  “Even the wind and the waves obey him!” (Matthew 8:23-27)

Unpredictable Situations

As soon as they got into the boat they didn’t know there would be a storm, but Jesus knows everything.  There was no way that they were going to die with Jesus there, even if he was sleeping.  He knew the storm would come just as he knows the storms that are coming in your life or even in this world.  We already have gone though a few storms together.  It made us stronger.

Helpful Situation

This storm is going to help the disciples know Jesus too.  They will find out that even when he is sleeping, he is still in control because He is the Son of God.  At the end of this storm, they will be baffled and puzzled.   “Who is this man?”  Which is another question the world is asking after “what is truth?”

These are a couple questions that the world needs to be able to answer before they reach the Judgment seat.  At the Judgement seat is will be too late for questions and answers.

The answer is to believe he is the Son of God and that he died on the cross for our sins to be forgiven.  He is the only way to be saved.  There are many religions but only one person can save you from your sins and Hell.

As the disciples found out who Jesus was in the storm you and I will know him better as we spend time with him and experience some of his miracles.
