His Faithfulness is Anchored in the Sky (Psalm 89)
I have come to appreciate what the 89th Psalm proclaims:
In the
second verse it says: “Your faithfulness is as enduring as the heavens” (NLT)
But in my
French Bible it says something like…” Your faithfulness is anchored in the sky”
(Francais courant)
As I read
the rest of the psalm, I understand why he speak of the faithfulness of God
with so much respect. The rest of the
psalm speaks of the covenant God has made with David and it will never be
broken. In fact, one of his descendants
will have an eternal kingdom and now we understand that this descendant is none
other than Jesus, the Messiah himself.
Because in verse 26-27 it says: “And he will say to me, ‘You are my
Father, my God and the Rock of my salvation.’ I will make him my firstborn son,
the mightiest king on earth.
Jesus, who
is not who, was, is that mightiest king and he is coming back to establish his
Kingdom forever because he is not just faithful to David but to all the seed of
the promise to Jesus and his believers.
The promise of the covenant did not stop at Jesus, but it was given for
the recipients of the promise…Us who believe that we may an eternal hope in him
because of his faithfulness. That is why
faithfulness is anchored in the heavens that we may understand that it is for
us. The rest of the psalm speaks of God’s
discipline to his descendants (verse 30) but his covenant will remain. So even if the believers have hardened their
hearts in unbelief (Hebrews 3) through confessing of their sins there is
repentance and restoration. It is never
too late to renew your commitment to God and believe. Do not let your heart be hardened because of
adverse circumstances coming into your life.
Keep the faith strong by reading his Word and holding on to his
promises. He is Faithful to his covenant
and the descendants of David through Jesus Christ, the Son of God.
Which brings
me to let you know that if you breath there is always hope for
restoration. Please never give up on
yourself because God will never give up on you.
There is a Promised land coming and we get a hold of it through faith in
God. Always believe!
