The Holy Spirit: My Guarantee

 

  1. Holy Spirit is a Guarantee 

Being a Christian is not based on emotions or on an opinion, but it must be based on assurance of the Comforter in me. The Holy Spirit is the seal of guarantee of the Eternal life God has promised to every Christian. We know we are a Christian not by our feelings but by the presence of the Holy Spirit in our lives. 

The Spirit is the guarantee [the first installment, the pledge, a foretaste] of our inheritance until the redemption of god’s own [purchased] possession [His believers], to the praise of His glory. (Ephesians 1:14 Amplified) 

  1.  It is a personal reason 

For this very reason we ought to praise him. It is a personal reason for our well-being as Christian. We are going to make it because of the Holy Spirit being active in our lives. 

We must allow him to be involved in our daily lives intimately, not holding on to any of our self-ambitions. By then we are dead anyway in Christ but alive unto God by his Holy Spirit.  

  1. Getting to know him not debating him 

I am reading a book by Andrew Murray entitled “Experiencing the Holy Spirit.” In it he encourages us to get back to our roots in the Church. The experience of the Holy Spirit as it was experienced at Pentecost. There is so much we do not know about the Holy Spirit and my personal belief is that we have debated him so much that time of experiencing him has been stolen from us resulting in a precious waste of time for the Church. We need to get back to our roots and get to know the Holy Spirit over again. He is a gentle Spirit and will not push himself on anyone. He has encouraged me to do so, and I hope this will also start a fire in you to seek him more.

Is It a Blue Christmas?

  Just to Let everyone know that I usually post on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays .  I will try to keep posting during Christmas as well on those days.   Is It a Blue Christmas? For those people who are fortunate to not grieve right now please bear with us.  My mother passed away last May.  I am living now in her house with my wife.  If my wife was not with me, I would find this very difficult.  Being in this house is so emotional and everything reminds me of what it used to be when I was with my parents.  Sunday morning the pastor preached on one of the attributes of the son that was to be born to Mary and Joseph about 700 years after the prophecy in the book of Isaiah 9:6.
