Under the Lord's Protection (Psalm 91)

A Psalm with the Presence:

I love the book of Psalms, one of my most favorite one is Psalm 91. It is all about God’s Presence and I love his Presence. It is such a comfort to be in and enveloped in the arms of Jesus all the time is it not?

When you start reading this psalm especially you feel the joy of the Lord coming over you.

Have you ever felt protection?  It is like a gentle ‘eye’ watching over you to keep you from falling and even if you happen to stumble, he is there to steady your feet and if that were not enough, he has ministering angels watching over.  You are never far from his thoughts, and he hold you in palm of his hand.

It is a Special Psalm:

There is something different in psalm 91 and I want to capture it.  It was one of the psalm Satan used to try to deceive Jesus in Matthew 4:5 when he encouraged him to jump so that the angels would catch him in flight.  Jesus became aware of his tricks and told him that no one is to tempt God.

But this psalm contrary to what Satan think cannot be used left and right without God’s presence in mind and in your heart.  There must be a spiritual connection between you and the living God, the only God who is Almighty because that is where the power and protection comes.  To illustrate, you cannot drive let us say a Fiat and expect Lamborghini results.  The Fiat would be too small for the power.  You must appreciate this psalm with the right person in you.

The Right Person:

The right person in you means more that God’s Spirit in you because unless he matches the characteristics of the Fruit of the Spirit, he is not the right spirit, and we must test every spirit. The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of Christian and Pure Love.  The person controlled by the Holy Spirit will be the person under God’s protection and will receive his grace as a continual feast.

I will leave you with these verses: The Lord says,

If you love me and truly know who I am,

I will rescue you and keep you safe.

When you are in trouble,

Call out to me.

I will answer and be there to protect and honor you.

You will live a long life and see my saving power.  (Psalm 91:14-16)
