Be Ready! (1 Thessalonians 4:13-18)

And now, brothers and sisters, I want you to know what will happen to the Christians who have died so you will not be full of sorrow like people who have no hope.  For since we believe that Jesus died and was raised to life again, we also believe that when Jesus comes,  God will bring back with Jesus all the Christians who have died.

I can tell you this directly from the Lord: We who are still living when the Lord returns will not rise to meet him ahead of those who are in their graves.  For the Lord himself will come down from heaven with a commanding shout, with the call of the archangel, and with the trumpet call of God.  First, all the Christians who have died will rise from their graves.  Then together with them, we who are still alive and remain on the earth will be caught up in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air and remain with him forever.  So comfort and encourage each other with these words.  (This continues into Chapter 5 as well)

This should be of great comfort and very encouraging to those who actually believe it will happen.

What this is talking about is called the 'Rapture' by many believers.

This text tells you exactly what will happen.  Jesus Christ comes back with the 'the Christians who have died' in the past and that's a lot of Christians.  This means comfort for all believers who have seen a friend pass away, they will be there among them.  Only God can do that kind of demonstration.  Just imagine what a show of God's power.

Then, the dead in Christ will rise first and the ones who are still living on the earth will all be taken.  The earth will then be emptied from all true believers.  This will all happened in the twinkling of an eye which is really fast.

The signs of the end that is coming soon are already on the earth.  You just have to look around.  It will not be spoken of in the News on your television but the manifestation of evil is obvious.  There are some signs of technologies changing and you have to ask what it is for.

So now, all of you who were wondering what was the Rapture all about are warn of its coming.  Don't be fooled! Its coming will be sudden and noisy as if God was blowing his trumpet.  No one knows the time of Jesus's coming but we must be ready!  So be ready!
