Road Signs Ahead (1 Peter 1:3-6)

All honor to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, for it is by his  boundless mercy that God has given us the privilege of being born again.  Now we live with a wonderful expectation because Jesus Christ rose again from the dead.  For God has reserved a priceless inheritance for his children.  It is kept in heaven for you, pure and undefiled, beyond the reach of change and decay.  And God, in his mighty power, will protect you until you receive this salvation, because you are trusting him.  It will be revealed on the last day for all to see.  So be truly glad!  There is wonderful joy ahead, even though it is necessary for you to endure many trial for a while.

As I see Peter's epistle right now, I imagine myself as being on a road with this sign saying 'Wonderful Joy Ahead'.  This is basically what Peter I think and the Holy Spirit wants us to focus on.  Sometimes I see myself and others have gloomy faces as they carry their crosses.  The gloomy is over and Jesus Christ rose from the dead.  You and I have a wonderful expectation (This is another word loaded with Hope, please check my previous posts Pause! Interpretation explained  ).  The Christian doesn't have any reason at all to look gloomy as long as the focus in on that expectation of life beyond what we have here on earth.  If your focus is on life on earth you have a small hope or even no hope.  Although we still need to be practical and pay our bills from an account that constantly changes, we know we have a steady account in heaven that does not perish.  Here on earth, trials ought to be expected, but God has that wonderful promise for us in verse 5, 'God will protect you until you receive this salvation'.  He will protect us on the condition we trust him.

Yes, there is that sign ahead 'Wonderful Joy Ahead', but here is another sign 'Many Trials Ahead', but don't worry we will cover that tomorrow.

Have a great day!
