In Preparation of the Coming of Jesus Christ (Philippians 4:4-7)

Always be full of joy in the Lord.  I say it again---rejoice!  Let everyone see that you are considerate in all you do.  Remember, the Lord is coming soon.  Don't worry about anything; instead, pray about everything.  Tell God what you need, and thank him for what he has done.  If you do this, you will experience God's peace, which is far more wonderful than the human mind can understand.  His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.

These are very simple and basic verses to follow and yet we fail so miserably at experiencing peace.  Why?  I would venture to suggest that it is probably because we focus on peace.  This old world likes to focus on the rewards rather than the process even to the point of disregarding the process altogether.  We have everything revolving around peace.  Yet the true peace from above comes through prayer.

First of all though in this passage we are encourage to think of others through our joy and consideration in all we do.  In regard of all of that, Paul reminds us of the soon coming of the Lord.  He reminded them of the second coming back just about 2000 years ago and how much more should remind our people today of it also?

This reminder of the Lord's coming seems to stick out of context like a painting of Picasso (very contemporary painting) in a museum of antiques.  However it begs us to ask the question about this phrase...why are you here?  The same question some of you will ask the Lord why he is here when he comes.

Fortunately, it is quite in context because all these things should be practiced in the context and expectation of his coming.

At his coming, we will be full of joy and consideration.  We will be settled on praying instead of worrying and we will have an open communication with our beloved Lord, unless we are not looking forward to his great coming.

For when the bride gets ready for the coming wedding, she is full of joy at the expectation of her coming beloved and removed from any distractions and worries that may tarnish their union forever.

Have a great!
