Keeping Christ-Mas (Matthew 2:8 Matthew 2:12,13 Matthew 2:16)
King Herod speaking:
Matthew 2:8: Then he told them, "Go to Bethlehem and search carefully for the the child. And when you find him, come back and tell me so that I can go and worship, too!"
Warning from God in a dream:
Matthew 2:12 But when it was time to leave, they went home another way, because God had warned them in a dream not to return to Herod.
Warning to Joseph in a dream:
Matthew 2:13 After the wise men were gone, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream. "Get up and flee to Egypt with the child and his mother, because Herod is going to try to kill the child."
Herod did want to kill the Christ of Christmas:
Matthew 2:16 Herod was furious when he learned that the wise men had outwitted him. He sent soldiers to kill all the boys in and around Bethlehem who were two years old and under, because the wise men had told him the star first appeared to them two years earlier.
Before I start this post, let me tell you why I believe the Bible to be true beyond the shadow of a doubt. This is the reason: I have experienced personally things that have happened to me that cause me to believe the Bible is a 'living' book. It should speak to you daily. No other book is like that. Able to change one's life!
King Herod was somewhat religious. As we find out in this story, he wants to worship Jesus out of deceit that is. He also wanted to kill him.
Christmastime is a time of great emotional upheaval for a lot of people. Somehow the Christ of Christmas is still working in the hearts of people.
How is everything working for you? Are you really happy this Christmas? Do you want Christ revealed or do you want to kill him? Is your happiness and joy only superficial? Gift, food and maybe even alcohol? Nothing can fill that empty hole in your heart like Christ can. He will welcome you like a friend who never fails you. People don't even come close to that kind of love. He is the One for you.
I can't promise everything is "rosy' after you have Christ in your heart, but what I am saying is that he makes everything worth living for. Giving you and teaching you contentment if you are willing.
