Kicking against the Pricks (Acts 9:5)

"And he said, Who art thou, Lord? And the Lord said, I am Jesus whom thou persecutest: it is hard for you to kick against the pricks. (Acts 9:5 KJV)

Actually, kicking against the goads means to fight against those in authority.  It's not mentioned in this story, but in Paul's conversion story in Chapter 9 of the book of Acts.  Jesus has a rather unusual meeting with him.  In that bright meeting, Paul becomes blind.  In fact, he had been blind all his life as a religious fanatic, but this kind of blindness was extraordinary.

Jesus spoke very loud and asked him: "And he said, Who art thou, Lord? And the Lord said, I am Jesus whom thou persecutest: it is hard for you to kick against the pricks. (Acts 9:5 KJV)

Many in the history of mankind have tried to kill the Church or Israel or even the Bible.  Take for instance, the story of Joseph, young son of Jacob in Genesis 37-45.  He had a powerful dream and vision and his brothers wanted to destroy him but God came through for him and he succeeded and became their leader.  They had fought God's plan but failed.

What about you?  Are you succeeding at fighting God?

By what I have research I understand that in both cases 'kicking against the pricks' was of no use because the prick which was a sharp stick to make animals go forward would hurt.  Thus, in both cases, Joseph's brothers had been kicking against the pricks and the plan of God came to pass.  As well, with Paul who lost in his fight against Jesus and ultimately became a leader in the Church.  No matter what you do to the Church by trying to destroying it even physically, it won't destroy because the words of Jesus have been spoken already:   "Now I say to you are Peter (which means 'rock'), and on this rock I will build my church, and all the powers of hell will not conquer it."  (Matthew 16:18 NLT) (This Church is the true universal Church of God of those who are born again by His Spirit).  End of discussion!  Can I have an Amen?
