In View of God’s mercy (Romans 12:1-2)
Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God-this is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of the world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is-his good, pleasing and perfect will. (Romans 12:1-2 NIV)
Since yesterday, have you soaked in God's mercy for you, a Gentile? Good!
Furthermore, think of the amazing investment God made in you and me. For that reason, we call it 'Amazing Grace' God poured all that he had into us Gentiles in order to save us. Think of it, it's just amazing!
Yesterday, we observed that God has momentarily left the Jews in their own rebellion, but not forgetting them because of his promise made long ago. O! Don't misunderstand me, if they want to be born again there is room for them. He will always remember them as his chosen people. We, as Gentiles God chose us by Grace if we put our faith in Jesus Christ. The Jews are a chosen people as a nation. We inherit that right by our rebirth in the family of God. There lays the difference between them and us. Just think of that privilege as we were once not even 'looked at' by the Father. But now, he has chosen us as his own by Grace.
God by his Mercy considers us to be part and includes us in his family.
Because of this gesture on the part of God, he says that in view of that mercy, we should want to offer our bodies as living sacrifice and be transformed by him. Again, this is not our work, it is his as we trust him. Are you begging God on your knees to transform you and change your mind? I believe we should not leave it up to chance, but rather be proactive in our approach to God. God wants us to connect with him and be involved in the process of that great renewal. You might say: "Lord, revive us again". God is saying (take action): "If my people who are called by my name shall humble themselves and pray...". It all start with a prayer for transformation. Do we really want it or are we just playing games with God. He is the One who wants it and he wants you to take him seriously. He wants us all to get going and pray...
Lastly, in views of God's mercy he wants to change us and allow him to change us. He is putting his finger on things he wants you to change right now. Do it and don't persevere in doing evil, but in doing good!
