What's your Silver? (Jeremiah 6:28-30) (Matthew 24:37-39) (Revelation 3:20)

What’s your Silver?

Is it of a good quality?  If you were the silver would God want you?

“They are the worst kind of rebel,

Full of slander.

They are as hard as bronze and iron,

And they lead others into corruption.

The bellows fiercely fan the flames

to burn out the corruption.

But it does not purify them,

For the wickedness remains.

I will label them ‘Rejected Silver,’

For I, the Lord, am discarding them.”(Jeremiah 6:28-30)

Let us be honest with God.  Are we as good as we claim to be, or do we put lots of makeup on our brokenness?

God looks at us like an appraiser of metals.  He wants quality in his silver.  He wants to see his reflection. He wants to see Jesus in us.  We are his showpiece to the world, let’s not have too high an opinion of ourselves.

What’s your silver? Too many impurities?  Too many foreign metals in it?  No, not good enough!  God wants the purest kind of silver, nice and supple.

Jesus said that he is coming soon and that was over 2000 years ago.  He must be close or is it another 1000 years from now?  Nevertheless, our lives must remain at the highest standard of quality.  Jesus’ quality.

But the point of this passage focuses on the patience of God.  While the bellows try to fan the flames so that the impurities will disappear, they don’t, and the wickedness remains.  The silver at that point becomes “Rejected”.  The people had been so stubborn that no amount of preaching and influence or even love would turn them back to God.  Like it was in the days of Noah so will it be before Jesus comes back.(Matthew 24:37-39)

He loves you too much to let you go.  The goal should be Jesus in us, the hope of Glory.

He wants quality for our good and for His Glory.

During this Christmas and throughout the next year, may we all let Jesus shine in us like the brightest silver ball on the Christmas tree. Is Jesus in the picture of your life?

If Jesus has knock on the door of your heart, please let him in (Revelation 3:20).
