Walking in Childlike faith! ( Psalm 116:1-9)
I love the Lord because he hears and answers my prayers. Because he bends down and listens, I will pray as long as I have breath! Death had its hands around my throat; the terrors of the grave overtook me. I saw only trouble and sorrow. Then I called on the name of the Lord: "Please, Lord save me!" How kind the Lord is! How good he is! So merciful, this God of ours! The Lord protects those of childlike faith; I was facing death, and then he saved me. Now I can rest again, for the Lord has been good to me. He has saved me from death, my eyes from tears, my feet from stumbling. And so I walk in the Lord's presence as I live here on earth....
This first part of Psalm 116 has a theme and the central focus is not 'death' but a childlike faith. A childlike faith that is strong and unmovable when facing death. God is stronger than death and so the person with childlike faith look in the face of the Father and trust him through anything. It's hard no doubt and tears might drip down our face, but we can still say, How kind the Lord is! How good he is!
Several times the writer of this Psalm which could be David gives us clues that he is facing death and yet in the midst of that we see his childlike faith hanging on and rising above and the Lord saves:
1) Him from death
2) His eyes from tears
3) His feet from stumbling
We can always delight in the Lord for his protection and his ability to keep us from death. We take him so much for granted.
Based on what I have already told you in this post
There are three points that are linked to each other (underlined above)
1) The Lord protects those who have childlike faith
2) Now I can rest
3) Now I walk in the Lord's presence here on earth
His faith is linked to rest which is linked to the Lord's presence. They are all connected.
The quality of his rest depends on the quality of his faith.
If you have faith enjoy resting in the Lord.
Have a great day!
